Getting Around
Lanzarote: Arrecife Bus is a great way to get around. It is cheap, fairly efficient, and a lot of fun. Most bus drivers speak enough English that if you have some idea of where you are going, they will be more than happy to help you out. Make sure you have change before you get on, as the highest bill they will take is €10.00. There are many 'Tour Buses' available to take you to tourist areas, however, If you are going 'off the beaten track', like to Orzola or Famara, you will have to rent a car. If you choose to rent a car, there are lots of places on Lanzarote. Be cautious on price though, as many of the 'less expensive' places insist that you pay for insurance IN ADDITION to the quoted rate, even if your own insurance covers you when driving a rental car. With a little research, and some help from this page, you should be able to find a reasonable car for a reasonable price. For example, just down the road from Lago Verde is K&H car rental - just 64 Euros for three days, insurance included. Not the newest cars, but we find them more than adequate. They also have a location at the airport, so you can pick up and drop at either location.
